Visiting the website for Sasha's orphanage seemed to be just what was needed at this stage: The point of being suspended between America and the Ukraine, holding one child and holding two, the past and the future.
The website has a sweetness about it. Of course the words are Cyrillic alphabet in Russian so it has a foreign feel in more than unfamiliarity. Looking at the pictures of the inside and outside of the facility helps to 'see' Sasha and get a sense of daily life. Figuring it would help Lucas to get a perspective by viewing the pictures he said: "Wow I'm exciteder to go now. I didn't think it would be so rich and fancy and all that stuff!"
Cradle of Children's Hope www.detdom.com.ua is one of few privately funded orphanages in Ukraine: stardream.com.ua. Both sites are in Russian with the Cyrillic alphabet. By copying portions of text and pasting them to the Google Translate website the vision of the foundation could be read in English: To rescue, support and rehabilitate abandon children. It will be a privilege to witness their dedication and then, to continue their mission.
