Today was a gloomy, cold and windy day in the Twin Cities yet a happy one as we began our final leg of the journey to adopt Jason (Sasha).  Jeanne flew out 12:49 today to Chicago...then to Frankfort.  She actually arrived in Frankfort at 11:40 pm (CDT)...10 minutes ago and at the coinciding with the National News that "Usama bin Laden is dead."  Good news for all but also a global travel advisory is in effect for Americans traveling abroad.  As a husband and father, I'm a little troubled by this...I did pray immediately for Jeanne, Sasha and the other families in Ukraine as well as those returning and coming for the first time.  God knew this was going to happen and I completely trust Him to protect and take care of Jeanne and Sasha as I did before this latest news alert.

We went to church Saturday late afternoon followed by a dinner at Applebees. We heard a great message at church on effective prayers and spent time in wonderful worship.  The evening was peaceful and mostly on task as we helped Jeanne pack and get final preparations in order.  We were all begining to feel sad and anticipating missing one another.  She was packed and ready at a reasonable hour. It was good for us to have a glass of wine, spend some time together talking and laughing.

The morning went quickly and without stress although the sadness began to sink in more.  We got those heavy bags through United check-in thanks to a very friendly and helpful gate agent.  We took pictures (need to get posted) and headed to Houlihans for lunch. Great quesadillas. Tears began to flow.  Yet, we know this is God's plan and in 3 weeks, possibly less, Jeanne and Sasha return home and we're family reunited forever.  God is Good.

In Chicago, we called each other for the last time 'til Kyiv.  Lucas and I were bundled up on the sport court playing tennis and at times, chasing Sadie while a few flakes of snow fell.  We headed to the garage to talk with Jeanne and prayed again for a safe and comfortable flight...a few more tears.  She called back again after boarding her plane to Frankfort and said she was good and comfortable.

Lucas and I had a good night...dinner...more outside play...a little Wii and lots of comforting, talking and reassurance...he misses momma.  As he said, "Dad I like that we'll have special time but I miss momma...she does things you can't...and you do things she can't."  I said, "You're absolutely right, buddy...I miss her too."
We got ready for bed, read and said prayers. He was in a good place as he fell asleep.

Time for bed.  We hope to Skype in the morning before school.  We'll be providing Blog entries from both sides of the ocean.
